What this site does with data
Privacy policy
The short version
This site has no accounts, no login, no newsletter, and no comment section. It does not ask you for your name, your email, or your travel plans. It does not sell data to anyone, because it does not collect any data worth selling.
Who runs this site
Landing in Japan is an independent personal site operated from Japan. For any privacy question, contact hello@landinginjapan.com.
What is collected
Analytics
This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It is cookieless and does not fingerprint or track individual visitors across sites. What it records is aggregate: which pages were viewed, roughly where in the world the request came from, and which site referred you. None of it identifies you.
Server logs
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request data, including IP addresses, to serve pages and block abuse. See Cloudflare’s own privacy documentation for how they handle it.
If you write to hello@landinginjapan.com, your message is delivered through Cloudflare Email Routing to a Google-hosted mailbox, and is kept only as long as needed to answer you. It is not added to any list.
Affiliate links and third-party cookies
Some links here go to other companies’ sites. When you follow one, that company may set a cookie to record that you arrived from here, so that a commission can be attributed if you later buy something. That cookie is set by them, on their site, under their privacy policy — not by this site.
You can block or clear those cookies in your browser at any time. Doing so costs you nothing and changes nothing about what you pay. See the affiliate disclosure for which programs are in use.
Fonts
Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google’s servers when a page loads. Google receives your IP address as part of that request.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Given that this site holds almost none, the answer is usually short — but ask, and you will get a straight answer: hello@landinginjapan.com.
Children
This site is aimed at adults planning travel and is not directed at children under 16. No data is knowingly collected from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will be noted on the homepage.
